Beach Mosquito Control District will be conducting aerial larvicide missions today starting at about 11:00 a.m. weather permitting.
During this mission, the district’s helicopter will be flying at lower altitudes (about 65 ft. AGL). This flight altitude is to insure proper deposition of the granular larvicide material to the targeted areas.
The target areas are outlined in blue/purple on the map below.
The material to be used in today’s mission is Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (B.T.i.), a naturally occurring soil bacteria; targets mosquito larvae during their 1st instar to 3rd instar larvae life stage.
